A Peer team of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), an autonomous body established by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of India to assess and accredit institutions of higher education in the country, has reached Rajiv Gandhi University, Rono Hills. The high level team will be meeting the University authorities, students, parents and alumni during their four day visit which ends on May 15.
The peer team is led by its chairman Prof. Anil K. Bhatnagar, former vice chancellor Pondicherry University with Prof. A. K. Pattanaik, Prof. Arabinda Kumar Das, Prof. J.C. Sharma, Prof.C. Naseema, Prof. Suresh Chand, Dr chandana Goswami and Prof Amiya Kumar Rath as members
The team will assess whether the University meets the standards of quality as set by the Accreditation Agency and assign it a grade based on its performance related to the educational processes and outcomes, covering the curriculum, teaching-learning, evaluation, faculty, research, infrastructure, learning resources, organisation, governance, financial well being and student services.
Rajiv Gandhi University is presently accredited with a B rating (2002), as per NAAC norms.
The Alumni Association Rajiv Gandhi University (AARGU) will meet the team on 14th May to discuss on various pertinent issues of the universities. AARGU led by Likha Tongum shall meet the NAAC Peer Team.
Hon'ble Vice Chancellor address the first meeting through power point presentation at Council Hall. Thereafter, Members would be visiting various faculties, departments, institutes, centres and branches to assess in details.
