About RGURSF

The Rajiv Gandhi University Research Scholars’ Forum (RGURSF) was formed in the year 2012 with the objective to bring together scholars from different disciplines under a common umbrella, dedicated to social, organizational activities, representation, and academic support of the forum. It is primarily responsible for building and preserving a healthy academic culture and an atmosphere for conducting various activities for the welfare of the scholars. Besides this, it raises the concerns and demands of the scholars’ community to the university administration. It is also worthwhile to mention here that as of now, RGURSF has successfully conducted 4 four national seminars and 2 national workshops under its management.

RONO HILLS, AUG 28:

The Rajiv Gandhi University Research Scholars’ Forum (RGURSF), after the expiry of its one-year tenure on January 28 this year, reconstituted the forum here on Wednesday with the induction of a new executive body headed by Reken Lollen and Prem Taba as the Chairman and General Secretary respectively.

The newly inducted executive body was elected by voice vote at a general body meeting held here at the RGUEA office earlier this week.

RGURSF is the representative body for all research scholars, both part-time and full-time, within the university. The forum is an elected body and acts at the behest of research students and raises the concerns and demands of the researchers to the administration.

In his speech, RGURSF Chairman Reken Lollen welcomed the newly inducted members and encouraged them to work selflessly for the welfare of the research scholars and students of the university.

Other posts that were appointed on the occasion included Chalak Lowang as the vice-chairperson, Renu Loyi as spokesperson, Pani Renyu as Convenor, Babu Jyoti as AGS, Usum Jongkey as Finance Secretary, Tenzin Choepel as Art and Culture Secretary, Shomkai Manhan as Sports Secretary, Tem Kutung as IPR Secretary and Jimmy Sonam as Social Service Secretary.The RGURSF also co-opted 5 others as the prime members of the forum.

RONO HILLS, SEP 20:

The Rajiv Gandhi University fraternity here Friday mourned the death of Tage Mamu, a Ph. D scholar in the Department of History, remembering her as a dear colleague and student.

A condolence meet was organized in the university’s mini auditorium hall to pay homage to the departed soul.

RGU vice-chancellor Prof Saket Kushwaha, registrar Tomo Riba, faculties, employees and students attended the program.

Late Mamu, the eldest daughter of Bulla Tage did her schooling from Oju Mission, graduated from Don Bosco College Jullang, Post Graduate in MA History from RGU, M.Phil in the topic ‘Patang: A socio-economic institution of the Apatanis’ and she was pursuing her doctoral degree in the topic ‘A history of Khamptis of Arunachal Pradesh: 1794 to 1947’ during the time of her death.

She died on Thursday morning owing to jaundice and Hepatitis. She was also the first Prefect of Dibang Halls of Residence.

Her supervisor Prof Sarah Hilaly, HoD History department remembered her as a bright young woman and good soul.

“Today I lost my first M.Phil scholar who was now on the verge of submitting her Ph. D thesis. No words to describe the pain I am going through and that the parents must be going through right now. Scholars community, family and the university have lost a distinguished scholar,” Prof Hilaly said.

RGU VC Prof Saket Kushwaha mourning the demise said the university has lost a great asset. Her death is a collective loss, he said.

In regard to students attending the candlelight vigil on such short notice, the VC said it showed how beautiful a soul she must have been.

“What happened tonight truly shows we’re all together. We’re all here to support each other. That’s what’s important,” he added.

Expressing deep sorrow he also said that the university will do all possible efforts needed to share the sorrow with the late scholar’s family.

In the light of the sickness, late Mamu was going through; Prof Kushwaha also said the university will be organizing a free hepatitis vaccination camp for the students and all residents of the university. He appealed all to attend and take benefit from the camp.

“She was outgoing, extroverted, a wonderful person, always had a smile on his face and never had a bad thing to say about anyone,” Taba Meth a Ph.D. scholar said.

Also condoling the death, RGURSF Chairman Reken Lollen said “Mamu’s passing leaves a void in the scholars’ community and the university. She was loved by all and was a positive influence on all those whose paths she crossed; everyone took a liking to her.”

A Candlelight vigil and 2 minutes silence was also observed.

The program was organized by the RGU Research Scholars’ Forum.

RONO HILLS, SEP 14:

In a first, the Rajiv Gandhi University Research Scholars’ Forum (RGURSF) organized a ‘Scholars’ Meet’ program on September 14 at the conference hall of Tissa Halls of Residence. Induction of new RGURSF executive members and Orientation for newly admitted research scholars marked the occasion.  The objective of the orientation program was to initiate the integration of newly admitted M. Phil and Ph. D scholars into the academic, cultural and social atmosphere of the university.
