Under the proper guidance of distinguished Late. Professor Hiralal Das, retired professor of Dept. of Physics Gauhati University, Assam, the Dept. of Physics came into existence in Rajiv Gandhi University in the July 2011 with an objective to promote Science culture and growth of active research works in the physical world for the welfare of mankind. For the complete realization of hidden potentials in the field of physical science, the Department offers presently M. Sc courses of two years with specialization in advanced condensed matter physics. The Department has the commitment for the introduction of other specializations like Astrophysics, High Energy Physics, Nano Science and Nanotechnology, Electronics and Computational Physics in near future. Department has already started Doctor of Philosophy (Ph. D) in Physics from 2015.
